Brief History of Department
 History is one of the faculties that were in existence since the founding of the institution. Many illustrious teachers who were well known state-wide served this department as lecturers. Dr. Keshava murthy was the first person to be appointed to the department and then followed Phalaksha whose name is eponymous with History text books. Most students of literature in Kannada medium who have studied History are familiar with Mr.Phalaksha as a text books writer. Dr. S N Shivarudra Swamy, was a researcher and worked extensively on Indology and published several scholarly articles and books. Renukarya was another teacher who served in the department who was involved in politics. Other lecturers who served the department include G B Siddaramappa, H V Nagarajaiah and Kumaraswamy M K.

Phalaksha and G B Siddaramappa retired as the Principals of the institution.

Currently, the department is headed by Dr. Lalataksha Murthy a management staff, and Dr. Siddalinga Murthy another management staff constitute the department.

ಸುವರ್ಣ ಗಿರಿ ಮತ್ತು ರತ್ನಗಿರಿ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳು ಅಶೋಕನ ನೆಲವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಪಶು ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳ ಆರೋಗ್ಯವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವುದು ಅಶೋಕ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿಯ ಸುಖೀ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಕಲ್ಪನೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಮೌರ್ಯ ಚಕ್ರವರ್ತಿಗೆ ಪ್ರಜಾಸಕ್ತಿ ಇತ್ತು ಎಂದು ಪಲ್ಲಾಗಟ್ಟಿ ಅಡವಪ್ಪ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ವಿಭಾಗ ದಿನಾಂಕ 28/05/2025 ರಂದು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದ " ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಪರಂಪರೆ " ಎಂಬ ವಿಷಯವಾಗಿ ಡಾ. ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ ಜವಳಿ. ನಿವೃತ್ತ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರು ದಾವಣಗೆರೆ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಪಟ್ಟರು. ತಿಳಿಯದವರು, ಅರ್ಥೈಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದವರು, ಇತಿಹಾಸವನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟಲಾರರು, ಬನವಾಸಿಯ ಕದಂಬರ ಶಾಸನಗಳು, ಮೌರ್ಯ ಶಾಸನಗಳ ಉದ್ದೇಶವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಪಾರಂಪರಿಕ ರಾಜರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದರು. ಇತಿಹಾಸದ ಪರಂಪರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಶೋಕ ಸಾಮ್ರಾಟ ದೂರ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಯುಳ್ಳ ರಾಜನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಈ ನಾಡಿನ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಪರಂಪರೆಯನ್ನು ಅರಿಯಲೇಬೇಕು ಅರಿತರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಯುವಕರು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಬಲ್ಲರು. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಪರಂಪರೆ ಬನವಾಸಿ ಕದಂಬರಿಂದ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆದು ಬಂದಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರಾಂಶುಪಾಲರಾದ ಡಾ. ವಿಜಯ ಕುಮಾರಿ ವಹಿಸಿ ಇಂತಹ ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಗಳು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ಆಂತರಿಕ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತವೆ, ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಹರಿವನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸುತ್ತವೆ ಎಂದು ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಪಟ್ಟರು. ಉಪನ್ಯಾಸಕರಾದ ಲೋಕೇಶ್ ವರಯ್ಯ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿ, ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಾದ ಡಾಕ್ಟರ್ ಲಲಾ ಟಾಕ್ಷ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಪ್ರಾಸ್ತಾವಿಕ ಮಾತಾಡಿ, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕರಾದ ಸಿದ್ದಲಿಂಗ ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಎಂ ರವರು ವಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಕುಮಾರಿ ಚಂದನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.

 

About Pallagatti Adavappa Arts College Tiptur
When the Kalpataru Vidya Samsthe Trust was formed in 1962, to administer Kalpataru College, it offered all the three streams of arts, science and commerce. The college flourished for two decades until the strength exceeded 2,500 students. The college had to be bifurcated according to the directions of the collegiate education. So, an independent college for the Arts and Commerce streams was established in the year 1982 and was named after the founder president and philanthropist, Pallagatti Adavappa, while, the science college retained the name Kalpataru.

KALPATARU VIDYA SAMSTHE (R), TIPTUR (ESTD.1961) :
Kalpataru Vidya Samsthe, an important centre for higher education has dispersed knowledge to the local rural masses for nearly six decades and has grown from strength to strength over these years. KVS is instrumental in putting Tiptur on the map of the academia. Today, the Management is flourishing with eight sister institutions one more reputed than the other.
