Overview

Our college library has been in existence ever since the dawn of the Kalpataru College in 1962. Initially it was identified as Kalpataru College Library and during 1982, when the college was split into two independent colleges; the library took after the name of its new college, Pallagatti Advaappa Arts and Commerce College Library.

We are proud to recollect the service rendered to our institutionby Mr. Clyde L Putnam, a Professor of Mathematics, under the teacher exchange programme. He was brought form the Junior College Association in California, USA, during the regime of the founder Principal Mr. J R Mahalingaiah, in the year 1965. His wife, Mrs. Esther Putnam, who had accompanied him,had a profound knowledge in library science and she worked in our college as a librarian.

The implementation of Mrs. Esther Putnam’splan for a comprehensive growth of the library has culminated into the present status. The other librarians who succeeded her, Mr. S.S. Patil and Mr. G. Tippeswamy strived hard to maintain and improve the benchmark set by Mrs. Esther Putnam, and made it at par with any University level library.

Several notable scholars and men of letters like D. R. Bendre, K ShivaramaKarantha, Goruru Ramaswamy Iyengar, Beechi, G P Rajarathnam, PT Narasimhachar, GS Shivarudrappa, G R Chennabasappa, G H Nayak, D Javare Gowda, Dr. C R Chandrashekar, and Rajappa Dalavai have visited our Library and expressed their candid compliments for the variety of books and services in the library.

Currently, the library is curated by Dr. ManjunathaJ. who has digitalized the entire library. The library retains its quality with several kinds of precious resource books, periodicals, reference books, government reports, electronic resources and other services offered to the students.

ದಿನಾಂಕ:12-08-2025 ರಂದು ಸಮಯ: 12.30ಕ್ಕೆ ಪಲ್ಲಾಗಟ್ಟಿ ಅಡವಪ್ಪ ಕಲಾ ಮತ್ತು ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಪ್ರಥಮ ದರ್ಜೆ ಕಾಲೇಜು,ತಿಪಟೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ “ಗ್ರಂಥಪಾಲಕರ ದಿನ”ವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.

ಪಲ್ಲಾಗಟ್ಟಿ ಅಡವಪ್ಪ ಕಲಾ ಮತ್ತು ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯ ಪ್ರಥಮ ದರ್ಜೆ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯ ವಿಭಾಗದಿಂದ 23 ಏಪ್ರಿಲ್ 2025 ರಂದು ವಿಶ್ವ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ದಿನಾಚರಣೆಯನ್ನು ಅಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಕಲ್ಪತರು ವಿದ್ಯಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿಗಳಾದ ಎಚ್ ಜಿ ಸುಧಾಕರ್ ರವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಮತ್ತು ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಗಳಿಂದ ಇಂದಿನ ಯುವಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ಓದುವ ಹವ್ಯಾಸ ಕಣ್ಮರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತಿವೆ. ದಯಮಾಡಿ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಓದುವ ಹವ್ಯಾಸ ರೋಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ ಎಂದು ಯುವಕರಿಗೆ ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಗ್ರಂಥಪಾಲಕರಾದ ಇರುದಯ ಮೇರಿ ಈ ದಿನದಂದು ನಿಧನರಾದ ವಿಲಿಯಂ ಷೇಕ್ಸ್‌ಪಿಯ‌ರ್, ಮಿಗುಯೆಲ್ ಸೆರ್ವಾಂ ಟೆಸ್ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಕಾ ಗಾರ್ಸಿಲಾಸೊ ಡಿ ಲಾ ವೆಗಾ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಲೇಖಕರಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಲು ಈ ದಿನವನ್ನು ವಿಶ್ವ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ದಿನವಾಗಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಲಾಯಿತು ಹಾಗಾಗಿ ಈ ದಿನವನ್ನು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ವಿಜೃಂಭಣೆಯಿಂದ ಆಚರಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಯುವಕರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರೇರೇಪಿಸಿದರು. ಇದೇ ದಿನದಂದು ವಾಣಿಜ್ಯಶಾಸ್ತ್ರ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಾದ ಪ್ರೊಫೆಸರ್ ಎಸ್ ಎಸ್ ಮಲ್ಲಿಕಾರ್ಜುನ ಪ್ರಸನ್ನ‌‌ ಅವರು ಸಹ ಬರಹಗಾರರಾಗಿ ರಚಿಸಿರುವ "ಮಾಡ್ರನ್ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿಂಗ್" ಎಂಬ ಪುಸ್ತಕವನ್ನು ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗೊಳಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಪುಸ್ತಕದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಅವರು ಮಾಡ್ರನ್ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕಿಂಗ್ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಿಂದ ಕಪ್ಪು ಹಣವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡಬಹುದು ಹಾಗೂ ಡಿಜಿಟಲೀಕರಣದತ್ತ ಸಾಗಬಹುದು ಎಂದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದ ಪ್ರೊಫೆಸರ್ ಸಿ ಎಂ ಎಸ್ ಲೊಕೇಶ್ವರಯ್ಯರವರು ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ 75,596 ಸಾವಿರ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳಿವೆ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಈ ಅವಕಾಶವನ್ನು ಸದುಪಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದರು ಹಾಗೂ ವಿಶ್ವ ಪುಸ್ತಕ ದಿನದ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕುರಿತು ಮಾತನಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಜರ್ಮನಿಯ ಬ್ರೆಕ್ಟ್ ಕವಿ ಬರೆದಿರುವ "ಬರ್ನಿಂಗ್ ದ ಬುಕ್ಸ್" ಎಂಬ ಕವಿತೆಯ ಸಾರಾಂಶವನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸಿದರು. ಇದೇ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯಮಯ ಪುಸ್ತಕಗಳನ್ನು ಗ್ರಂಥಾಲಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಪುಸ್ತಕ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನವನ್ನು ವೀಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಮೆಚ್ಚುಗೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಸುಮಧುರವಾದ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿ ಚರಣ್ ರಾಜ್ ಆರ್ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು, ಪ್ರೊಫೆಸರ್ ಶ್ರೀನಿವಾಸ್ ಬಿ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸಿದರು, ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಭರತ್ ವಂದಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಇತರರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.

About Pallagatti Adavappa Arts College Tiptur
When the Kalpataru Vidya Samsthe Trust was formed in 1962, to administer Kalpataru College, it offered all the three streams of arts, science and commerce. The college flourished for two decades until the strength exceeded 2,500 students. The college had to be bifurcated according to the directions of the collegiate education. So, an independent college for the Arts and Commerce streams was established in the year 1982 and was named after the founder president and philanthropist, Pallagatti Adavappa, while, the science college retained the name Kalpataru.

KALPATARU VIDYA SAMSTHE (R), TIPTUR (ESTD.1961) :
Kalpataru Vidya Samsthe, an important centre for higher education has dispersed knowledge to the local rural masses for nearly six decades and has grown from strength to strength over these years. KVS is instrumental in putting Tiptur on the map of the academia. Today, the Management is flourishing with eight sister institutions one more reputed than the other.
